Sitting in the sun
A cool breeze blowing as we eat
Oysters in the bay
Blast from the Past:
Oh how we help catch
Each other’s breath on the days
We rush everywhere
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus
Reflections on life, the world, and society. Come explore with me.

Sitting in the sun
A cool breeze blowing as we eat
Oysters in the bay
Blast from the Past:
Oh how we help catch
Each other’s breath on the days
We rush everywhere

Driving in my car
Watching the changes
That never seem to happen in the world
Listening as Garrison Keillor
Teaches me how to transition
Into middle age
Blast from the Past:
Slip slowly into
Unconsciousness just to face
The same old problems.

Ever-present heat
Blankets you in mugginess
All throughout the day
Blast from the Past:
Slick yet cracking skin
The dry sun ages young hearts
Dreams dissolve in heat

I stare at the screen
Pure blankness, taking in the
Pleasures of boredom
Blast from the Past:
Technology may
Kill creativity by
Killing our boredom

Are we really the
Good people that we always
Thought of ourselves as?
Blast from the Past:
In grand positions,
Who can you now trust to tell
You your true mistakes?

Old memories haunt
As an oozing infection
If you don’t tend to them
Blast from the Past:
It’s like a ghost
That’s been following us both
Vague and unseen

A one cup coffee
Pick me up zooms me into
The hyped stratosphere
(I’m so buzzed that I may just take over the world today.)
Blast from the Past:
If only I’d pause
In this transitory world
To smell the flowers
