I am always caught
Between needing to talk and
To be left alone
Blast from the past:
Delight, then, sorrow,
The worker reaps a bounty
For his employer

Poems about relationships

I am always caught
Between needing to talk and
To be left alone
Blast from the past:
Delight, then, sorrow,
The worker reaps a bounty
For his employer

I did not stop talking to you
Because I am a cowardI did not stop listening to your shouts
Because I could handle it.I did not stop pretending nothing was wrong
Because I wanted to ruffle feathersI did not reject the apology you never really gave
Because I do not value mercy.I did not stop being with you
Because I want to force your hand.It is not about you.
It is about what I want in my life
And it’s not someone
Who would hurt me
Denying there’s anything wrong with that.
Blast from the past:
Why do you prize me
More when I had gusto but
Lacked any substance?

I look in the mirror
Thinking about how much
These years have made me look like you.
Each new wrinkle on my face is a story
Of a moment we could have had together.
Although I will always cherish
The memory of the hospital bed
Where I saw you die
Blast from the past:
You may not see it now
Or ever,
And it may feel scary,
But
Holding you accountable
Is for your own good.

I too remember
What it is like to always
Be leaving behind
Blast from the past:
I cannot answer
Why any of these conflicts
Were ever started

You saw me as just
A part of your day. To me,
You were my day.
Blast from the past:
You already wrote
Your book. I’m just the guy you
Needed to insert.

Because I did nothing,
Because I did too much,
Because I did not intervene enough,
Because I interjected too much,
I am leaving your because
Blast from the past:
You had a lot to say
When you were telling me what to do,
And now that I establish no,
Nothing

The truly deep ones
Create life around them and
Strive for all to thrive
Blast from the past:
Out of your healing
Cascades forward more healing
For those around you

Mercy is not the opposite of desire. It’s the form desire takes when you let it breathe.
Blast from the past:
I am neither the
First, nor am I even one
But one of many

When did you decide
That you were too small for such
An enormous love?
Blast from the past:
When you throw a stone,
I am the one who feels the
Ripples go through me

Every time we talk,
I feel like I can’t
Recognize who you
Once seemed to be
Blast from the past:
So many thoughts rush
Through my mind. Unsorted, yet
Each fight for my time.
