9/28/24 Daily Poem

My poem for today is a longer poem, not a haiku like normal. I hope you enjoy, though.

To the courage of resilience.
To the courage of persevering through.

Sometimes, you must confront the demons in front of you,
Journey into your Mordor,
Tell your Pharaohs that you and your people are free
And that he shall not stand in your way.

Too often, others remain content in their half-shires,
Laying the bricks they are told to,
Afraid that venturing out of their shire will only disrupt the little stasis they have.
If only they appease their demons, maybe it won’t be so bad.

But it takes true courage to refuse to settle for stasis
And to say, “Enough is enough.”
To reject cheap resolutions, cheap contentment, cheap “it-will-all-be-okays”.
To pursue true vitality,
Even if it requires risky climbs,
Dragging your Gollum along every step of the way,
And like a doctor, having the courage to rebreak the broken bones
That others rush into for a forced equilibrium
To ensure it can heal properly

Blast from the past:

The “immortal” life:
Histories of the future:
Bloodily crashing
