The alarm clock blasts
Just as I finally start
Into a nice dream
Blast from the Past:
You’re startled awake
From a dream but have no clue
What happened or why
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus
Reflections on life, the world, and society. Come explore with me.

The alarm clock blasts
Just as I finally start
Into a nice dream
Blast from the Past:
You’re startled awake
From a dream but have no clue
What happened or why

I suffer from life
Heavy eyes and empty brain
The roads are traveled
Blast from the Past:
When sleep finally
Catches up to me, I’ll rest
For eternity

Why do I get my
Big moments of clarity
As I drift to sleep?
Blast from the Past:
Once I gained insight
Satisfied I went to bed
And quickly lost it.

I sit on the bed
Tired, my eyes hurt, my head spins.
It is when I stop
I feel all the exhaustion
Now all built up within me
Today, I wrote a waka instead of my usual haiku.
Blast from the Past:
In the search for wonder
There are no endings
Only beginnings,
Eternal exhaustion

Silence
Nothing to watch
No new thoughts, just silence
Stirs my mind awake to its
Worries
This is my attempt at a cinquain poem.
Blast from the Past:
Hell fire emanates
From within the recesses
Of my wounded soul

More adventures will
Be there for you tomorrow.
Now go get some sleep.
Blast from the Past:
Drifting into sleep
Finally after a long day
Losing consciousness

Nothing to see here
If things were all different
You will not escape
Blast from the Past:
Have we trapped ourselves
Inside unsatisfying
Narratives of gain?

The conscious mind wakes
To the potential dawning
Of reality
(I wrote this haiku while on the road without enough internet access to post it day of, so I posted later when I internet.)
Blast from the Past:
Hey, wakey wakey.
There’s eggs and bac-y. Well no,
But here’s a haiku.

Tired, unable
To sleep in the airport
A walking zombie
Blast from the Past:
This wasted effort
To get some sleep that never
Really wants to stay.

Another moment
When my thoughts are racing and
I’m hoping for sleep
Blast from the Past:
Revel in darkness.
Woke up afraid of my shadow.
Sleep off my demons.
