You know what has a
Soul based on what decides to
Keep its own secrets
Blast from the Past:
Lying to live, or
Living to deceive, losing
Credibility
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus
Reflections on life, the world, and society. Come explore with me.

You know what has a
Soul based on what decides to
Keep its own secrets
Blast from the Past:
Lying to live, or
Living to deceive, losing
Credibility

Wounded, sad, angry,
Unheard, dismissed, ignored,
Mourning, yet resolved
Blast from the Past:
Favored yet confined
Peaceful yet surrendering
Hopeful yet watchful

My soul is as
Vast as the world,
A deep river
Unfolding forever
A Blast from the Past:
Here is your desert
Where nothing is real except
Your boundless feelings

Who am I amidst
The quagmire of debate ‘tween
The self and its brain?
Blast from the Past:
Postmodern crisis:
The power of perspective,
Generative force

I refuse to be
Defined by your quest to push
Me up to your oblivion
No matter how many
Times you push me, I will
Always bounce back
— The stone’s response to Sisyphus

I can’t sit still, yet
I feel agitated when
I go do something
Blast from the Past:
Excitement surrounds
In this amazing place, and all
I want is to sleep

You will never feel
Satisfied until you learn
You have all you need.
Blast from the Past:
They dig deep for it
But it has always been here
In their inner core

True damnation is
The aspects of you that you
Could never resolve.
Blast from the Past:
I approach an abyss
That I am afraid
To learn I’ve been inside all along
This photo is a great encapsulation what I am trying to say in both of my haikus.

Clouds of brief sadness
Come and go, sprinkling bouts of
Rain into my soul
Blast from the Past:
Perhaps in despair
Of the wilderness, I will
Craft a new idol.

Depression is when
You can no longer share your
Meaning with others
Blast from the Past:
Seeing her own face
Reflected in the mirror,
The girl grimaces
My friend wrote this interesting follow-up haiku:
Seeing the true face
Grimacing, the reflection
Slunk away saddened.
