06/20/26 A New Haiku for a New Day

The only one who
Walks up an escalator –
Still the same rat race

Blast from the past:

Resolved: to ignore
The voice in my head which
Mistakes job for self-worth.

One cat tears into
The other’s face, but I can
Do nothing to stop him.

Blast from the past:u

Opportunists at
The world’s end, they emerge to
Prey on the oppressed

The biggest mistake
We can make is to assume
We don’t belong here.

Blast from the past:

Death displaces my
Essence and binds my life to
The beat of time. Why?

In the fallout of
What happened, life just goes on
When you wake up the next day

Blast from the past:

We will wear our scars
Like tattoos. Each will become
An adorning crown.

You Know You’re Aging When:

You’re unsure whether
To feel glad or sad about
What now excites you.

Blast from the past:

Why do our bodies
Fall apart right as our minds
Discern who we are?

I’m the setting sun
Descending over the
Light of tomorrow

Blast from the past:

Out of nothing came
Everything, from one spark the
Entire universe

Death is just in how
Upon all it dispenses
The same injustice.

Blast from the past:

Stalking on its own terms,
Receding when you contend,
Death is a coward.

The abyss is real
But not for me. Though I like
Picnics on its cliff.

Blast from the past:

After this, my song
Will become another herald
To guide this blind world.

I am the shifting
Wind that you have never been
Able to grasp

Blast from the past:

The wind blows away
Your dandelion wishes
Before you can try

Staring, just staring
There’s nothing to look at but
I can’t look away

Blast from the past:

I’m a little head-
Scratching mess with a tinge of
Existential angst
