Whether we’re ready
We are thrust into the world
To endure together
Blast from the Past:
You are the rain cloud
That prevents me from being
Scorched by my own sun.
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus
Reflections on life, the world, and society. Come explore with me.

Whether we’re ready
We are thrust into the world
To endure together
Blast from the Past:
You are the rain cloud
That prevents me from being
Scorched by my own sun.

I gaze back into
The “I” of each past encounter
As they become me
Blast from the Past:
The past and present
In what will they ever end
When they become one?

At the edge of who I am, I stand
Determining what it would even mean
To venture forward
Blast from the Past:
I’ve been standing on
The edge of what I have been
And what I could be.

There she goes
The woman you can
Never get
Blast from the Past:
Your heart remains cold
These words fail to rekindle
It’s dying embers.

Beautiful birds
Building their nest within the
Very Tree of Life
Blast from the Past:
Do birds sing new songs
Once they migrate to
Distant lands?

Everyday more
Don’t stop until you drop
Blast from the Past:
Conversations and
Then conversing followed by
More conversations

Meeting old friends
Seeing who you were clash
Against who you are now
Blast from the Past:
It’s like a ghost
That’s been following us both
Vague and unseen

Waiting while it loads
Watching my slow computer
Take such a long time
Blast from the Past:
I’m like a glacier:
Slow-moving til you get to
My ice-cracking tip.

Kneeling before their elders
Washing each other’s feet
Standing up to start a new life together
(This one is about a Javanese wedding I attended.)
Blast from the Past:
We must discover
The way we fit together.
Let us join the dance.

Thrown into the water
The net comes back with
Tons of trapped fish
For you to dislodge
Blast from the Past:
The rabbits present
The tiger with many fish
To not become lunch.
