What’s a roadtrip but
An endless excursion to
The next gas station
Blast from the Past:
New day
New drive
New trails
New hikes
Same feel
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus

What’s a roadtrip but
An endless excursion to
The next gas station
Blast from the Past:
New day
New drive
New trails
New hikes
Same feel

Books books
Everywhere
But not the time to read
Blast from the Past:
Long winded sentence
Making several points at once
Is best read aloud

A twisting tree
Clasping through the wind
Towards the sun
Blast from the Past:
The persistent breeze
Finally finds its home in
The leaves of the tree

Walking through your garden
Sifting through your roses
Smelling the lilies in your pond
Everywhere, I cannot help
But feel the lack of your presence
Blast from the Past:
U and I are close
To each other; well at least
Close on the keyboard

How can you tell
Oh wave whether your ripple
Will make its mark against the shore
Blast from the Past:
Drop in a puddle,
A rush of waves advancing
Towards nothingness

At the water’s edge
Where the animals come drink,
The crocodile waits.
Blast from the Past:
An anaconda hangs
On the chandelier above.
Proceed if you dare.

The black swan
Curled up like a snake
Over her nest
Blast from the Past:
Regular insects
Transforming at night into
Dazzling fireflies

My eyes awake, and
My mind learns that no recent
Thought made any sense
Blast from the Past:
To sleep and then to dream
Venture beyond the world of
Possibilities

I
Hide
To
Not
Fly
So
High
I’d
Die
Blast from the Past:
Painting bedridden,
Flying through a mirror,
Flowers on her corset
(An ode to Frida Kahlo)

Stuck in the desert
All I have left to do is
Kneel down on the ground
And accept the bitterness
Of eating my own heart
(Based on Stephen Crane’s “In the Desert”)
Blast from the Past:
Can there be a song
That gathers rain upon this
Neglected desert?
