All I did today
I did as if others were
Watching over me
Blast from the Past:
Nothing’s more of a
Waste and annoyance than
Careless solemnity.
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus
Reflections on life, the world, and society. Come explore with me.

All I did today
I did as if others were
Watching over me
Blast from the Past:
Nothing’s more of a
Waste and annoyance than
Careless solemnity.

You know what has a
Soul based on what decides to
Keep its own secrets
Blast from the Past:
Lying to live, or
Living to deceive, losing
Credibility

Life is growth, so if
We’re not growing together,
We’re growing apart
Blast from the Past:
Grow what is working,
And then improve what is not.
Iterative process.

What is poetry?
Remove the words and meaning,
Poetry’s what’s left.
Blast from the Past:
Poets can’t afford
Only to sing about their
True inspiration

Create our idols
To survive and live by
Executing them.
Blast from the past:
Must we inherit
The depravities of the
Gods worshipped for us?

Love is life itself
Beauty is what love produces
Harmony is love’s process*
Blast from the Past:
Loved by a dog in
A concentration camp.
It saw my humanity
That other people could not.

I will go with you
To hell, if I can make it
Less hellish for you
Blast from the Past:
Walking down the street
Arms’ locked together, rinsing
Each other’s shadows
Happy Valentine’s Day!

How the earth becomes
Infinite in all of its
Endless finitude
Blast from the Past:
The waters flowing
Into the place out of which
It originates

Thunder questioning
The stones, arraigning the sky
Calling to judgment
Blast from the Past:
Maybe our stars are
Genuflecting to us for
Propping them above

I approach an abyss
That I am afraid
To learn I’ve been inside all along
Blast from the Past:
When you stare into
The abyss, are you really the
Monster staring back?
