Pampered Sisyphus
Resting on top of mountain
Fleeting peacefulness
Blast from the Past:
We construct, but
Nature just tears it back down.
Ornate sandcastles.
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus
Reflections on life, the world, and society. Come explore with me.

Pampered Sisyphus
Resting on top of mountain
Fleeting peacefulness
Blast from the Past:
We construct, but
Nature just tears it back down.
Ornate sandcastles.

Raging and weeping,
Babel of fire and secrets
Foretells the coming
Blast from the Past:
A city in flames
Pitchforks are calling for blood
And no fire brigade

Think of today’s acts.
Would death taking them be bad?
Live the life you want.
Blast from the past (an aphorism):
Action is all we have until we die, so to avoid taking action is to decide to die early.

The authority:
Powers of good or evil
In control of what?
Blast from the past:
That which is hidden
Manufacture of the poor
Hypnotic power

In the midst of the
Fire of presence is a key
For the door of life
Blast from the Past:
A cleansing fire
Out of which will grow
The mightiest of oaks

Orange leaves cover
The ground in February,
Baked in intense heat
(A reflection on the current weather in Northeast Thailand, where it is getting hot yet many trees loose their leaves. This feels different from the winters in the US that I am familiar with)
Blast from the Past:
I lie in the shade
Of your blistering haiku
No rest from the heat

Wounded, sad, angry,
Unheard, dismissed, ignored,
Mourning, yet resolved
Blast from the Past:
Favored yet confined
Peaceful yet surrendering
Hopeful yet watchful

What name can I make
To be known among all those
Suffering like me?
Blast from the Past:
Empty your storehouse
Unto others as if they
Want your leftovers.

There isn’t a reason
To hate me the way you do.
Just punch it out now.
Blast from the Past:
When a bear attacks
A wolverine, it’s often
The bear that gets hurt

Alive in the garden
I’m the first joy and despair
Master of those cursed trees
Blast from the Past:
I’m learning that I
Need a new creation myth
To explain it all
