Why won’t my body
Let me fall asleep? Eons
Pass as I lay here.
Blast from the Past:
My feelings replay
On an endless loop, while my
Mind rushes about.
The Cracked Door – Daily Haikus
Reflections on life, the world, and society. Come explore with me.

Why won’t my body
Let me fall asleep? Eons
Pass as I lay here.
Blast from the Past:
My feelings replay
On an endless loop, while my
Mind rushes about.

I’m too tired for words.
All I want to do is sleep
Z z z z z
Blast from the Past:
There it is! The thought
So excites me I forget
To then write it down.

Slowly arching up
Curved to reflect the heavens
Reaching down to earth
Blast from the Past:
God’s heavenly fire
Can never endure
Captivity

No matter how much
Wealth you have, you cannot stop
The rain from falling
Blast from the Past:
Climbing to then fall
Fossilized in poverty
Hoping for rebirth

Endless flowing stream
New waters fill the same world
Rushing in and out
Blast from the Past:
From every spring
Bursts forth
Life

The orangutan
Hangs high in the tree, dropping
Branches on passerbies
Blast from the Past:
Ode to the beach:
The desert of the sea
Lifeless dunes of submerged sand
That humans deem tranquil.

Big leaves dangling
Over the water, snakefish
Jump up for some bugs
Blast from the Past:
Water overflows
These soggy banks while elsewhere
Is left a desert

Gliding in the water
Each stroke a synchronicity
Within my body
Blast from the Past:
What I’m looking for:
Contentment. To be happy
Just being alive.

Life is what happens
When you stop waiting for life
To happen to you
Blast from the Past:
The antithesis
Of life’s not death, but being
On autopilot.

They sell the water
That does not quench. Buy and
Drink forevermore.
Blast from the Past:
They know when you’ve been sleeping.
They know whether you’re awake.
They know when you’ve been bad or good.
So buy for profit’s sake.
